21 Acres: Tapas and Local Wines

Fresh Thinking: Cooking seasonally with sustainable ingredients sourced from local farms. The Tapas and Local Wines class is offered as part of the 21 Acres School.

Tapas are a great way to do appetizers - or a whole meal - Spanish style. Recipes can be made ahead or make a great cook-as-you-go party for friends who like to hang out in your kitchen. We will sample a red and a white Woodinville wine with our small plates and see what the food does to the flavor of the wine (and the wine does to the flavor of the food).

Menu/Recipes

- Roasted mushrooms in red wine
- Spanish omelette with Swiss chard
- Shrimp in saffron sauce
- Lamb meatballs in Romesco sauce Marcona almonds with rosemary

Instructor Barbara Sowatsky is a graduate of the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco, a personal chef and a chef instructor at Sur La Table in Kirkland. She loves food with a Mediterranean flair.
