  • Even though the weather is still warm and flowers abound, it’s time to think about how to close out the bee season. A fall beekeeping class typically involves inspections, a discussion about treatments and feeding the bees.

Register for one class or two! On Thursday evening we’ll spend available daylight in the beeyard before retreating to the building for further discussion. On Friday evening, we’ll extract honey.

That’s it! If you have a bee suit, it would be a good idea to bring it. If you don’t we’ll figure out a way to work around it.

Possible activities on Thursday: mite strips, installing feeders and feeding bees, removing honey from top bar hives, and proper use of a smoker.

Friday: Honey extraction using a manual extractor. You’ll be able to take home honey after the class.

See you on Thursday, September 7th!

Instructor: Kurt Sahl, 21 Acres Director of Operations
