May Edible Plant Sale
Come to our May Edible Plant Sale and take advantage of the largest selection of organically, sustainably and locally grown vegetable plant starts in the Puget Sound region.
At our festive annual gardener gathering, you’ll find an amazing selection of tantilizing veggies to choose from -- over 50 varieties of organic tomatoes and 20 types of peppers! Many heirloom varieties will be available, as well as an extensive selection of culinary herbs, edible flowers and drought tolerant perennials. These irresistible plants have been hand-selected by Seattle Tilth's garden educators to offer the best possible selection of plants that perform well in our Pacific Northwest climate. This sale differs from our March plant sale because it debuts summer gardening plants aka “warm season” crops like tomatoes, peppers, squash and corn. New gardeners, you’ll feel right at home. Our garden educators and informative signs will help you choose the best plants for your garden. We are an educational organization, afterall. Find out about our wonderful plant growers.
Consider taking home a “Garden to Go” tray of plants chosen around a theme for your convenience. Themes might include: Summer Hits, Container Gardens, Your Farm in the City, Edible Plants for Kids, Gardening 101. You can even pay in advance and stop by for a quick pick-up outside the sale entrance in Meridian Park. Check back to find out more about our Garden to Go themes this year and to purchase yours online.
Glean information and inspiration from our knowledgeable staff, printed handouts and historic learning gardens at the sale. Find displays on how to grow food in unique ways: vertically, in recycled containers, companion planting and season extension – learn by seeing! Ask questions during free educational presentations on gardening throughout the weekend by Seattle Tilth garden educators. Check back to see the schedule of presentation and demonstrations.
Get first pick of the plants and raise extra funds for Seattle Tilth at the Early Bird Pre-Sale on Friday, from 5:00-7:30 p.m. Limited amount of tickets are available for $25. Tickets will be available online in early April.
Outside the main sale area, find delicious food, family activities, live music and other vendors on the soccer field in Meridian Park. Pick up breakfast or lunch from Patty Pan, fruit shrubs, organic fertilizer other "green" goods and "Garden to Go" plants!
