Veterans Agricultural Cooperative (VAC) at 21 Acres

The Veterans Agricultural Cooperative, VAC, was designed to improve the functionality and help restore the physical and mental health of veterans' well-being, through the practice of farming.

Currently based on the 21 Acres Farm in Woodinville, Washington, the organization supports veterans, their dependents and the communities in which they live, by providing access to healthy, high-quality, safe and affordable food.

Jonathan Phillips, VAC Program Coordinator, leads a group on the 21 Acres Farm at a recent work party.

From "combat to cultivation" the VAC aims to provide a setting for the development of Veteran-owned self-sufficient, sustainable-farming businesses, through employement/career opportunities, and veteran services, to active duty service members, veterans and their families.

Through hands-on opportunities in their farm plot at 21 Acres, and other educational opportunities, the VAC provides outreach and technical assistance through the development of food systems that help people grow, process, market and distribute food in a sustainable manner.
