DESCRIPTION:Come learn all about seed starting with 21 Acres Farm Manager Ansley Roberts\, who will share the ins and outs of seed selection\, how to set yourself up for seed starting success\, and how our seeding and planting practices at 21 Acres fit into our wider agroecological practices. \nYou’ll also get to apply your new knowledge with some hands-on experience in our greenhouse by planting a seed to take home. \nJoin us for an informative stroll around the 21 Acres farm and natural spaces to explore how agroecology\, soil health and land stewardship can build resilient local food economies and support direct climate action. You’ll visit our organic fields\, wetlands\, solar-powered projects\, and much more as we uncover what farming looks like in the Sammamish Valley Agricultural Production District. Farming has never been more essential to our local and global communities. \nBring your questions! This interactive hour will be held in person on the 21 Acres campus. Meet us in the lobby on the second floor 10-15 minutes before the start of the tour. Details for the tour will be provided via Eventbrite after registration. \nNote: The Farm Tour is not ADA Accessible. Dress for the weather; the paths will likely be muddy\, so appropriate footwear is recommended. Space is limited for this free event; be sure to sign up via Eventbrite. \nNeed seeds for your garden? Be sure to stop by the 9th Annual Sammamish Valley Seed Swap on the 21 Acres Farm Market patio during March and April! \nWant to get your hands dirty and learn more? Register for an upcoming Volunteer Farm Steward event later this spring and work with 21 Acres staff on a variety of seasonal farm and restoration projects that build soil health and maintain the farm during the growing season.

SUMMARY:Dry Farming Fair & Farm Walk
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the first Dry Farming Fair at 21 Acres! You are invited to learn how farmers grow produce varieties that need zero irrigation and taste absolutely delicious. Dry farming is a water-smart\, climate-adapted growing practice here in the PNW\, and in this era of rising temperatures and extended periods of drought due to climate change\, dry-farmed produce offers an important opportunity to bolster local food systems and our home gardens. \nJoin the 21 Acres Farm Team on the front patio for a chance to taste and compare dry-farmed and irrigated produce grown on our own farm. Meet other water resilience advocates including King Conservation District and Washington Water Trust. Plus\, learn how our farmers select and save the dry-farmed tomato seeds to adapt them to our microclimate. At 1 pm\, Farm Manager\, Ansley Roberts\, will lead a special farm tour focused on the dry farming trials here at 21 Acres\, including tomatoes\, squash\, and dry beans. All activities are free and open to the public. \nThis event is part of the Washington Water Resilience Farm Tour Series in partnership with the Dry Farming Institute\, King Conservation District\, UW Farm\, Outback Farm\, Oxbow Farm\, American Farmland Trust\, and Oregon State University. For more farm-based learning on water resilient growing strategies\, check out the rest of the tour series here.
