21 Acres volunteers are passionate changemakers in climate action, who learn alongside us about agroecology, climate resilience, local food economies, and more while providing a vital assist in reaching our land stewardship goals. We are grateful to have a dedicated community of volunteers who support a broad range of projects on the farm and in our education center.

Farm Steward

Get your hands dirty and learn about regenerative farm practices at 21 Acres! Join us for Farm Steward Saturdays: 10 AM to 12:30 PM. 

 

Work alongside knowledgeable 21 Acres staff on a variety of seasonal restoration and farm projects that build soil health and climate resilience. Get a first-hand look at our working farm throughout the seasons.

Beekeeping

It takes a hive to keep our honeybees happy and healthy! Join our team of volunteer beekeepers and learn about the fascinating world of bees!

 

Volunteer Beekeepers at 21 Acres help with weekly hive maintenance while learning about the domesticated insect Apis mellifera (honeybee). Volunteers will gain experience working with bees and maintaining the apiary.

Library Steward

Calling all book worms! Help our community access books and other materials in our Sustainability Library.

 

The 21 Acres Sustainability Library contains more than 1000 titles on topics like gardening, cooking, green living, climate and social issues, children’s books, and more. There’s a Little Free Seed Library, too. Volunteers help keep these resources organized and up to date so that more people can access the materials they need.

Food Forest Steward

Are you a passionate gardener, permaculturist, or aspiring green thumb looking to get involved in your local food system? Join our community Food Forest team.

 

We are seeking volunteers to help us manage our campus Food Forest. Food forests are a sustainable agriculture practice utilized by Indigenous communities from the Amazon to Canada and beyond. Our quarter-acre Food Forest features plants such as raspberry, blueberry, thimbleberry, mulberry, pears, plums, quince, apples, and more. While the food growing here is abundant, so is the to-do list! Learn more about this role here.
