Eco-Challenge Update!

We have a team of 11 wonderful participants for our Eco-Challenge alongside the Coalition of North American Zoos and Aquariums. It’s fun to swap ideas and support each other on ways to reduce our dependency on single-use plastics.

Kelly made homemade mayonnaise for the first time, Rhianne is preparing to make a Zero-Waste (from scratch) chicken pot pie, Karen is helping teach the next generation ways to reduce plastic use by educating her grandkids, Liesl has eliminated plastic wrap in her house, Anne is making yummy looking zero-waste meals, Mary is continuing on her already amazing course of environmental stewardship, and everyone has many more commitments and goals to keep working on this month.

Our team stats have updated! So far we have:

  • Prepared 17 Zero Waste Meals
  • Picked up 139 pieces of litter
  • …and more!

Check back as we update our stats.

Quick Tip: Try going back to bar soap rather than liquid soaps, especially sustainably packaged soap. This can save tons of plastic per year!

It’s never too late to join our team. Email Kelly at KellyR@21Acres.org if you are interested.

If you join our team, you will be sent information on how to pick up some cool swag and a discount coupon for shopping in the 21 Acres Farm Market.  You are also welcome to simply join as an individual and not as part of our team.

We hope to create a community of support and exchange of ideas and inspiration throughout the month.  Participants earn points for their actions in areas such as personal care, food, community, lifestyle, and more.
