21 Acres has benefited from the support of the HumanLinks Foundation and we’re excited about the organization’s continued work to support local farmers.  Recently, Nancy Iscovitz, Executive Director of HumanLinks and Robin Crowder, Marketing and Development Director of 21 Acres participated in two conferences, the Washington State Farmers Market Association’s Annual Meeting and Conference in Vancouver, Washington; and Tilth Producers of Washington’s Annual Conference in Yakima, Washington.  Together Robin and Nancy helped spread the word about the Foundation’s Low Interest Loan Program for Washington Farmers.

Beginning in January 2014, HumanLinks started enabling credit access to farmers who may not have been able to secure a loan through a more conventional bank. Partnering with Banner Bank, the Foundation gives local, sustainable farmers the ability to borrow funds at a favorable interest rate (3%) for up to 2 years. The minimum loan size is $2,500 and the maximum loan size is $25,000.

HumanLinks has also instituted a new loan program for value added production. These loans range from $1,000 to $10,000 for 2 years at an interest rate of 3%. Both loan applications are relatively easy to complete and don’t take a lot of time. Please email nancy@humanlinksfoundation.org for more information.

The HumanLinks Foundation, is a non-profit organization dedicated to systematic improvements in education, healthcare and sustainable agriculture, and is offering these micro-loan programs to sustainable farmers to help strengthen the Washington farming community.
