  • Curious about how renewable energy technologies and green buildings contribute to climate action? We’re excited to welcome a special guest, Kelly Rankich, to lead this month’s green building tour.

This tour will highlight the features of the 21 Acres LEED Platinum Green Building that support adapting to Climate Change and will demonstrate how green building techniques support building resilience. We’ll discuss resources available to perform your own risk assessment and identify strategies to respond to these risks.

The tour will include a brief introduction to the new LEED v5 rating system’s focus on Resiliency. Depending on attendee interest and time available, Kelly can touch on a variety of topics, including: passive solar design, renewable energy, backup systems, active cooling, enhanced outdoor air filtration, solar powered ground water well, heat Island mitigation, and importantly, how local food systems and wetland restoration relate to climate resiliency.

Kelly Rankich is a sustainability consultant with O’Brien360 working on supporting commercial new construction projects and efficient operations of existing buildings. Kelly previously worked as an engineer focused on soil and groundwater remediation and was thrilled to call 21 Acres her home for three years as our facility manager. Kelly is passionate about residential green building and low waste living.

Bring your questions! This interactive hour will be held in the 21 Acres building, which is ADA Accessible with an elevator. Be sure to register in advance and join us in the lobby on the second floor to check in 10-15 minutes before the tour begins.
