This is an introductory class covering the basics of composting, and is aimed at the average individual with little to no composting experience.
The class will start by going over the basic science of how and why composting works, and provide you with an understanding of what is happening in your own compost. We start at the beginning, and no prior background in composting or science is needed. We will also briefly discuss some of the most common styles and techniques of composting systems (batch vs. continuous composting, piles vs. tumblers, turning vs. not turning your compost), their strengths and weaknesses, and how they all rely on the same basic principles. The basics covered in this class will give you the tools and understanding necessary to compost at home successfully. By the end of the class you should have a solid understanding of: * The basic science of composting.”
