Cooking Class: Roasted Roots Take Main Stage!

No longer just another passé side dish, root veggies can be a rock’n main dish as the autumn sun sinks lower on the horizon. Explore seasonal varieties and flavors of root vegetables unique to the farmlands around the Puget Sound with culinary instructor Yuka Honda of Cook Veggies at Home. Local root vegetables and tubers are flavorful, nutrient rich, and the multiple color combinations make gorgeous dishes for the up-coming holidays. Yuka will show you simple cooking techniques to highlight the subtle sweetness of root vegetables in any recipe. Our hands-on menu for the evening will include baked vegetable chips and dips, colorful roasted roots with locally raised meat, creamy carrot soup with fresh herbs, special mashed sweet potatoes, roasted beet salad with seasonal fruit dressing, and sweet potato bread. Vegetarian optional with wheat.
