Want to beat the summer heat with a refreshing beverage that you can brew at home?
Whether you are a beginner wanting to dip a toe into the world of fermentation or a seasoned gourmet looking to expand your flavor repertoire, kombucha is a fantastic medium!
This fermented tea has been around since before the year 200 BC, and still enjoys widespread popularity today. It gains its unique properties from the SCOBY (an abbreviation for “symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast”), which will convert your everyday sweet tea into your new favorite drink. This special fermentation process also produces probiotics to support a healthy gut and other immune boosting compounds. You can even use kombucha to put a new spin on salad dressings and cocktails for your next cook-out!
In “Make your own Kombucha” Beth will take you through the full process to create this delightful alternative to sugary soda.
In this class you will learn:
– The origins and historical significance of kombucha
– Health benefits of this refreshing beverage
– How to brew a batch of kombucha from start to finish
– Methods for creating unique flavors beyond the basics
You will have the opportunity to taste multiple types of locally brewed kombucha. At the end of the lesson, you will take home your very own SCOBY, starter tea, and full instructions to start brewing your own kombucha at home!
