Kids need to get their hands in soil. To experience this living organism firsthand provides a lifelong understanding of food and the preciousness of fertile earth, tiny seeds, sun, water, compost, beneficial bugs, worms and pollinators – everything that is needed to sustain life.
Farms need kids to be lifelong stewards – protectors, advocators and supporters – of farmland.
Kids are consumers, our future farmers and ranchers. They’ll be chefs, doctors, teachers, artists, parents and elected officials responsible for making choices and policy about food and farmland.
Kids are our cultivators and our caretakers. They explore, they laugh, they get excited about new things… their enthusiasm is infectious.
