First Saturday in the Farm Market
First Saturday in the Farm Market
- date: June 2, 2018
- time: 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Join us June 2nd for First Saturday in the Farm Market at 21 Acres! We’ll be talking worms… and compost toilets, waste streams, food storage tips, eliminating straws, and lots more! We’re on a roll at 21 Acres when it comes to reducing waste, and we are excited to keep that ball rolling by sharing information and resources with you. Though national averages still estimate 30-40% of our food supply is wasted, with fruits and vegetables being the most commonly wasted foods, our team at 21 Acres is thrilled that so many of our customers and visitors are committed to helping us enjoy our farm fresh food and utilize our waste.
On First Saturdays you can enjoy cooking demos by guest chefs, learn how to use seasonal produce, acquire an essential skill, or find out something new about our farmers, products, and growing practices.
This month join us for the following scheduled events:
10:30 am, Let’s Talk Worms – Worm Bin Basics
11:00 am, 21 Acres Green Building Tour
12:30 pm, Compost on Campus
1:30 pm, Let’s Talk Worms – Worm Bin Basics
Throughout the day there will be samples in the Market, a waste stream sorting game, a ‘no straws’ activity, compost and food saving tips, and, to top it all off… ice scream scoops (this month’s flavor is strawberry)!
First Saturdays are free and open to all ages. Don’t forget, 21 Acres Members always receive 10% off in the Farm Market on First Saturdays. Learn more about membership.
