At Hawthorn Farm, we harvest leafy greens all year long. June and July are a great time to start those hardy plants like Brussels sprouts and fall cabbages that put greens on your table when the days are short. You deserve a rockstar kale patch to nourish you through the winter—especially if it can fit into a pot on your porch! In this lively interactive experience hosted by 21 Acres, let’s talk about winter-hardy varieties, when and how to plant them, and how to make an edible cover crop mix. Your garden and health will benefit from roots in the soil all year long!

Alexia Allen and Daniel Kirchhof have been feasting together at Hawthorn Farm since 2010. They spent all of 2017 eating only hand-harvested food and continue to develop their Woodinville farm to feed the community great year-round produce. With years of experience between them doing carpentry, animal husbandry, food preserving, and gardening, they find joy in sharing hard-won common sense. Teaching is a passion for them both.
